Bridget D. Haney is a researcher, writer, and public historian specializing in African American history, Black women’s and girls’ history, and the history of race, socio-education, and community in the Midwest. She earned her PhD in U.S. History from the University of Missouri, with graduate certificates in Black Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies.

Before joining the Inclusive History Project, Bridget served as Historian for the State Historical Society of Missouri, where she conducted archival and community-based research and developed exhibitions, public programs, digital projects, and interpretive resources connecting historical scholarship with communities across the state. Her research and writing have examined Black education, girlhood, citizenship, place, and belonging, with particular attention to how individuals and communities navigated institutions and shaped the historical record. As an Inclusive History Project Research Fellow, Bridget provides research, interpretation, and programming support across multiple IHP project sites in Ann Arbor.
