The Inclusive History Project (IHP) has launched Dispatches, a new series that shares the work of uncovering U-M’s history through the eyes of the researchers themselves. The series follows the day-to-day processes of fieldwork, archival research, interviews, and documentation that make historical storytelling possible.
The first installment follows Camron Michael Amin, IHP Director of Research at UM-Dearborn, as he travels with a research team to meet Blenda J. Wilson, the first African American woman to lead a public Michigan university, and to record her reflections on leading UM-Dearborn. The piece details the team’s work — from locating archival materials and footage, to planning and filming interviews, to capturing Wilson’s first encounter with a portrait created in her honor.
